Colombia earthquake kills over 100 people

A strong earthquake hit western Colombia on Monday. The earthquake had a magnitude of 7.4. More than 100 people died. Many buildings fell down in cities like Cali and Pereira. Rescue teams are looking for people under the rubble. The president of Colombia declared a national emergency. He said that helping people is the most important thing. The earthquake was deep and was felt in other countries like Ecuador and Panama. The US and the EU offered support.

World's oceans reach record-high temperature in July

The world's oceans were the hottest they have ever been in July. The average sea surface temperature outside the polar regions was 20.96°C. That beat the old record of 20.89°C from 2023. Western Europe also had its hottest June and July ever. This led to extreme wildfires and very dry conditions. In the UK, England and Wales had their driest July in 190 years. Scientists say El Niño and climate change are making heat extremes worse.

At least 13 people died in a Ukrainian drone attack in Russia

Ukrainian drones attacked the Russian city of Nizhnekamsk in Tatarstan, about 1,100 kilometers from Ukraine. At least 13 people were killed, including one child, and 75 were injured. The attack hit an oil refinery. Russian officials said seven of the dead were citizens of Uzbekistan. It is one of the deadliest drone attacks inside Russia since the war began in 2022. Ukraine says it targets places that help Russia's war effort. Russia's air defense shot down many drones, but some caused fires in other areas.

He also limited an agreement that protected Trump from tax checks. Some victims of Jeffrey Epstein criticized how Mr Blanche dealt with investigative files.

Alajärven yksittäinen villisika metsästetään afrikkalaisen sikaruton leviämisen estämiseksi

Alajärvellä on havaittu yksin liikkuva nuori villisikakarju, joka pyritään metsästämään pois, jotta alue säilyisi villisikavapaana ja afrikkalainen sikarutto ei leviäisi. Suupohjan alueella villisikakanta on vakiintunut, ja sitä on yritetty pitää kurissa tehokkaalla metsästyksellä; tänä vuonna Suupohjassa on kaadettu jo 39 villisikaa.
